Dr. Roozbeh Ghodratnama, PhD Biomedicine is a biotechnologist by training, earned a BSc in Biotechnology from Shiraz University and an MSc in Genetic Engineering from National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering in Tehran. As a post-graduate, he set up the molecular biology lab of a leading stem cell research institute, where he was working on gene expression profiling of embryonic and adult stem cells. He continued his education in medical biotechnology by earning a second Master of Science in Stem Cell Technology and a PhD in Biomedicine focusing on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine in the UK. During his PhD, he did an internship at the technology transfer office, where he began his career in innovation management and commercialization.
He worked as a biomedical science commercialization expert over the past 10 years in different positions internationally: as a market access expert in London supporting the market entry of innovative biomedical products to the UK, followed up by the setting up of the middle east operation of a German biomedical company in Dubai. He moved to Hamburg, Germany to work as Innovation and Regulatory Affairs Manager focusing on the global commercialization of a combination product for wound healing. In the past few years, he worked as an innovation management and commercialization expert in Germany and initiated several international innovation networks such as Quality Control in Medical Cell Therapy, Alternative Methods to Animal Testing and 4DBioprinting. In this role, he advises SMEs on the commercialization and market entry of innovative products and worked as the interim CFO for a cell therapy company responsible for raising EUR 2.5 million as a seed fund. He also earned the Certificate of Corporate Finance from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
